Arrived in Yulara, the name of the town where Ayres Rock resort is situated. The road to Uluru was closed so we went for a drive to explore the area & found a long dirt rd to ?????
1st day exploring 'the rock'......did the Mala walk....... just so beautiful...... that vibrant blue sky & red rock were amazing....
Accomodation was excellent - cooking facilities, washer & drier. Pearce had a pull down double bed on ground floor plus there was a sofa bed if needed. Could accommodate upto 8 people.
We visited the lookout across the road from our Apartment before heading out to our 1st tour - an Astro sky tour
Absolutely beautiful but sooooooo cold -1 degrees felt my fingers were going to drop off while holding phone
Still frozen from -1 sunrise. It was very difficult walking into the strong wind so we didn't make it to the end of the gorge
The Rock had been closed for climbing the past 2 days due to windy conditions & we assumed it was closed again today as the wind this morning at Walpa Gorge was phenomenal. But when we drove past the rock & noticed people climbing we quickly decided let's go. We only had 3hrs before camel ride & Pearce only had his Vans on so not really prepared but....WE DID IT.....to the 1st bit
Trevor was our camel who recognised his name & turned his head every time we called his name. Scenery was so beautiful & serene. Wine & damper were waiting for us after the ride. Perfect way to end our Uluru holiday.
